Leo Thorsness

Colonel (Ret.)

Mr. Thorsness is a Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot in the Strategic Air Command and Tactical Air Command flying F-84s, F-100s and F-105s. While serving in Vietnam, he was awarded the Medal of Honor recognizing him for the actions he took to save downed pilots over North Vietnam during a Wild Weasel mission on April 19, 1967. Just two weeks after the actions Leo took to save downed pilots, he was shot down over North Vietnam and remained a POW until the end of the war in 1973.
