The Panhandle Community Action Team took a look at some unique issues faced by women veterans

America's Warrior Partnership

Our Community Action Team met on October 2, 2019 and focused on women veterans’ issues in our area.  We did not have an outside speaker as several of our female CAT members are veterans themselves, and they provided valuable insights. Many issues were identified, along with suggestions for addressing them, e.g. support and networking opportunities, and recognition of the contributions of female veterans.

During the October meeting the team also decided to decrease meetings to quarterly in 2020 in order to allow more focus on interviews of veteran family members, as well as participation in already established veteran collaboratives.   The research assistant will attend the local quarterly veteran networking meetings in both Escambia and Okaloosa Counties and will offer updates on Operation Deep Dive during the introduction portions of the meetings and will present at these meetings as invited by the coordinators.  The Research Assistant will also attend the monthly EscaRosa Suicide Prevention Coalition meetings and will provide study updates to attendees.  Monthly email updates will be sent to CAT members in order to keep all informed of study progress.
