Operation Deep Dive continues to make forward movement here in the Twin Cities area. In September, Operation Deep Dive was represented at the TCME Military & Veteran Exchange. At this gathering, the Twin Cities Service Provider Network and the Twin Cities Military Network joined forces in an effort to connect and align the efforts of those who support and honor our “military-connected”.
Operation Deep Dive has also met with Operation: 23 to 0, a local non-profit that fights to raise public awareness about military and veteran suicide, supports those in need by relieving simple stressors and provides a network of fellow military members to connect with for help and support. Operation: 23 to 0 does a phenomenal job in providing families and survivors with the resources they need and letting them know that they are not alone in their pain; they will be a key resource we share with interview participants.
Additionally, we are preparing to begin conducting interviews with the surviving family members and friends who have lost a loved veteran to death by suicide or self-harm in the Twin Cities. Interviews will consist of questions related to the deceased veteran’s life in order to gain an understanding where the veteran traversed through the community and how that individual was impacted through their engagement or lack of engagement leading up to the time of death. We have our first interview tentatively set to take place in October. If you or someone you know lives in the Twin Cities area and may be interested in participating in the study, please reach out via phone (952-221-2349) or email (email@example.com) to learn more.
