Collaborating within various community sectors provides a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to those in need, ensuring no one falls through the cracks. Knowing the importance of this approach, Alaska Warrior Partnership (AKWP) recently joined forces with local VSOs, community members, and corporations to unite to support our disabled veterans.
Ramps are a simple accommodation that plays a pivotal role in making the lives of our disabled veterans just a little easier. Unfortunately, too many veterans live without this sorely needed accommodation. Recognizing this flaw, AKWP recently joined forces with Operation Ramp It Up, 101 Mobility, and UPS to uplift the lives of disabled veterans in the local community.
"I haven't left my house in 2 months because I was afraid of falling down the stairs; this ramp is going to be used!" – Local Alaska Veteran.
AKWP was excited to work on such an inspiring project. So far, in this collaborative action, we have completed three ramps, with more in the pipeline before winter. This profound positive change in these veterans' lives could not have been achieved without the collective action of our community. AKWP is thrilled to continue these partnerships to bridge the gaps for veterans in the future.
Too many veterans and their families are suffering – to the point of taking their lives. Our passionate donors empower the lives of veterans, their families, and caregivers through our upstream approach to reach a veteran before a crisis occurs.
