Kate Migliaro is the Chairwoman of America’s Warrior Partnership and Managing Director of Talent and Organization at Blackstone. She is a wife, a mother of two boys, and a woman with a family legacy of service.
For Kate, being part of a military family is not just a label; it is a calling deeply rooted in her heritage, which has spanned several generations. Her grandfather served in the Navy during WWII before becoming a police captain. Kate and her three sisters have all served in the Army, with three out of four graduating from West Point. Her family’s dedication to supporting our communities stretches beyond the military as many have held roles as police officers and other civil service workers. Her husband, Chris, who she met at West Point’s Camp Buckner, also served in the Army. The legacy continues on his side, with his brother and grandfather being veterans. This multigenerational legacy of commitment to the nation is a shared purpose that bonds her family.
A Call to Serve
A profound sense of gratitude forged Kate’s journey. She feels blessed to live in a nation built on freedom and liberty. Being part of the first West Point class to begin after 9/11 inspired her to protect the ideals of democracy and to honor the lives of those lost. In her time in the military, Kate was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan to support and build law enforcement capabilities. She was awarded the FORSCOM J.P Holland Award for best Military Police Company in the Army, the combat action badge, and the Bronze Star. She believes in the importance of defending the values that define the United States—a message she hopes to pass on to her children and future generations.
Kate reflected on her military experience and how it influenced her civilian life. Professionally, she observed how leadership is a responsibility requiring understanding and adaptability. She learned the significance of building trust within diverse teams unified by a common cause. Kate found strength in the community and learned to rely on others when she needed support, a skill often difficult for veterans to conquer. She said resilience is a vital trait, one that empowers individuals to overcome challenges and support others in difficult times.
At home in New Jersey with her husband and two boys, Kate passes along two guiding principles: kindness and integrity. These values reflect her desire to instill in her children a respect for all people and a commitment to doing what’s right.
