Navajo Veteran’s Birthday Wish for Motorized Wheelchair is Granted

When hope aligns with the proper support, even the most fundamental wish can open doors to newfound freedom. In July 2024, Diné Naazbaa Partnership (DNP) connected with Larry Anderson, a proud Marine Corps veteran who served from 1966 to 1970. Larry reached out to DNP with a heartfelt request: he needed a motorized wheelchair to regain his mobility and independence.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.

The DNP team worked tirelessly to secure the right equipment and secured a wheelchair donation from La Plata County Veterans Services in Durango, CO. The timing couldn't have been better, as the team received confirmation just in time for Larry's birthday on July 3rd, 2024. They were thrilled to give him the incredible news that his wish had been granted.

On July 13th, 2024, Larry finally received his motorized wheelchair. The joy on his face was undeniable, and the gratitude he expressed was deeply touching. For Case Coordinator Karen Shirley, leaving Larry's home that day was a moment of fulfillment, knowing that DNP had significantly impacted Larry's life.
