Strengthening Community Bonds Through Veteran-Owned Businesses

Starting a new chapter in life can be exciting, but it often comes with overwhelming challenges. Building a solid foundation in a new community can seem like an uphill battle without enough support. Panhandle Warrior Partnership (PWP) aims to make these transitions smoother and more connected.

Colonel Elizabeth Sager was ready to embark on a new chapter in life, retiring from the Air Force/Space Force after 30 years in 2024. She started her own plastic surgery practice in Destin, FL, but like any new venture, building a foundation and connecting with the local community presented its challenges. That's when Elizabeth contacted Panhandle Warrior Partnership (PWP) for support.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.

PWP Case Coordinator Melissa Rust quickly stepped in, inviting Elizabeth to local veterans' coffee meet-ups in Niceville, FL. These gatherings became a valuable space for Elizabeth to meet fellow veterans and build connections. Melissa also helped promote Elizabeth's ribbon-cutting ceremony, extending her business's reach. Additionally, Melissa encouraged her to connect with the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, one of Florida's most prominent, to further network within the community.

With PWP's support, Elizabeth is building relationships with other veterans and local businesses. Melissa remains dedicated to supporting Elizabeth on this new journey, ensuring she's never alone in the process.
