The Network in Action: Air Support for an Air Force Veteran

Christopher* is a post-9/11 Air Force veteran who was referred to The Network through a local community partner. Christopher was ill and needed assistance moving from his home in Maryland to a new modified home in Missouri that was conducive to his health situation. The local community partner, along with the local VA, had arranged air transportation for Christopher with the cost of the flight being covered by a national nonprofit. However, there were outstanding expenses related to fuel and land transport. The local community partner coordinated a donation from members of the community to partially pay for the fuel and land transport. The Network quickly worked with their national partners to cover the remaining $8,500 in expenses. Through the knowledgeable coordination of The Network, three national partners generously provided the critical funds to help Christopher and his family travel to their new home in Missouri.

The Network bridges the gaps between national resources and community veteran-serving organizations to empower communities to empower veterans. It takes advocacy and collaboration to holistically serve veterans, their families, and caregivers.
