The Network in Action: Dreams Do Come True

Hank* is a Post-9/11 veteran who was referred to The Network by a national partner, Warrior Bonfire Program, when he needed support to relocate him and his family to another state where his dream job was waiting.

He was overwhelmed by the cost of moving and did not know where to turn for help. All local resources had been explored, but nothing was available to meet Hank’s need. Warrior Bonfire Program stepped in and referred Hank to The Network. The Network collaborated with another national partner who agreed to assist.

During the planning process, Hank experienced several setbacks which piled on extra stress for him and his family. As a veteran, Hank disliked having to ask for help, but he encountered surprise fees three different times during the moving process. With the support of a Network Advocate, he thoroughly arranged to get financial assistance from a Network national partner for the necessary moving fees. However, when it came closer to moving day, the company told Hank it would cost more because the original quote would not fit all of him and his family’s belongings. With little notice and heightened stress, Hank turned to The Network to explore options in order for his move not to be cancelled. The Network quickly responded to coordinate expedited resources for additional moving financial assistance.

The last set back came on moving day when yet again, the moving company told Hank they would need another truck. Luckily, The Network was able to coordinate same day financial assistance for an additional truck and Hank’s dad stepped in to drive it to their new destination in Florida.

Hank and his family are now in their home enjoying their new community and job. He was grateful for the support he received from The Network and collaborating national service providers. This story is a testimony to The Networks ability to shoot, move, and communicate under fire. It is through trusted relationships, understanding Hank’s unique situation, responsiveness, and unrelenting advocacy that the Network was able to react quickly to help this veteran's dreams come true.
