Ladarius* is a recently transitioned post-9/11 Army veteran with a 50% disability rating referred to The Network through a national employment partner. He was actively working with employment resources to find a job, but the job hunt was halted due to the Covid-19 global pandemic.
Without a job and his disability benefits as his only source of income, Ladarius fell behind on his rent, utility, car, and credit card payments. The national employment partner recognized Ladarius’ need for immediate assistance to prevent eviction and referred his case to The Network. The Network worked closely with the national partner and Ladarius to understand his unique situation and explore local and national options.
Ladarius did not qualify for local housing programs resulting in The Network turning to a national partner to assist with short-term financial support. The national partner was able to help Ladarius get back on track with his financial situation. Ladarius was grateful for the support he received and continues to receive assistance from the involved veteran-serving organizations. He is actively working with both The Network and the national employment partner to obtain a job and connect to additional resources available to him within the community. He is also pursuing his education benefits, which will lead to long-term success.
*Ladarius is an alias created to protect the identity of the veteran and their family.
