Home improvements can be daunting, especially when working with the limited resources on the Navajo Nation. For Navy veteran Edison Ashley, maintaining his home had become an overwhelming challenge, with each new issue feeling like another uphill battle. But through the caring support of Diné Naazbaa Partnership (DNP), he finally found the help he needed to make his home feel secure and comfortable again.
Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.
Edison first contacted DNP in August 2023, looking for assistance with new flooring for his home. DNP promptly sent him a Red Feather application, but when Case Coordinator Karen Shirley followed up, Edison shared that he was dealing with other issues and planned to apply when he was ready. Over time, he managed to secure the flooring independently but later needed help obtaining a new door.
In March, DNP sent Edison another application, which he completed and returned with a price quote for the door. As the months passed, Karen stayed in touch, and by June, Edison eagerly awaited a response from Red Feather. Finally, on October 1st, Edison and his wife shared the happy news with Karen: their new door had been picked up from Home Depot and installed, bringing relief and comfort to their home.
Grateful for the continued support, Edison and his wife expressed their heartfelt thanks to DNP, knowing that the assistance helped make their home safer and more complete.
